Considering a Whippet?

Boo

Boo

People who are serious about whippets and about breeding carefully nearly always show or race their dogs, at least a little. And yes, they plan litters hoping to get a great winner. But most of the puppies in every litter will go to pet homes because of a minor cosmetic or structural flaw (often noticeable only to the breeder!) --- the breeder can only keep so many whippets! Those pet puppies come from the same meticulously planned breeding and receive the same attention and loving care as the "pick of the litter." That's why you want to buy your pet from a breeder who shows or races.

We like Sparrow so much that we almost kept her here to be the next Timbreblue show dog, but we finally decided she really needs her own family. We're keeping her sister Siren, and raising two puppies, especially siblings, can be problematical. They do entertain each other, but they also get in double the trouble! Mostly though, the puppies tend to bond with each other in sort of a, "All for one and one for all" type pact. It can be very difficult for them to function as individuals. So we've decided to let Sparrow leave the nest after all.

Sparrow was born May 15, 2010. Her mother is Timbreblue Goes With Sailors, and her father is Appraxin Amulet Avant-Garde (Blue) She's a medium fawn with a "split face" -- that is, one side is fawn and one side is white. It gives her an interesting look -- sweet on one side and devilish on the other!

Sparrow loves playing with squeaky toys, snuggling with anyone who will sit still long enough for her to climb in a lap, and playing in the yard with our other whippets.

She is crate trained, leash trained and almost housetrained, She is microchipped, has had all her puppy shots and is parasite free. She loves children and is accustomed to large dogs. (We have a 107-pound German Shepherd in addition to our whippets -- Dallas and Sparrow are good buddies.)

We do require that someone is home with our pups for the first few months and we like to keep in touch with our puppy owners. If you think Sparrow might like to light at your house for good, fill out our questionnaire and give us a call at 540-784-8948.
