[Note from Sharyn: Juliet's page is written by my daughter, Johannah, who "talked me out of" Juliet in the spring of 2008. So Juliet lives in Irmo, SC, some of the time, but comes back to Virginia to whelp and raise her puppies...or when I just miss her too much. She adjusts very well to the dual spoiling.]
Juliet is that rare combination, a dog who is as lovely as she is sweet. Juliet has a great sense of humor and is endlessly affectionate. When my husband, Derek, and I were ready for another whippet we already knew the one we wanted - Juliet! We fell in love with her at the 2007 Timbreblue reunion and decided then that she would retire to our house in South Carolina ... but we wanted her so badly that we brought her home before her show and breeding career had really started.
Juliet has been selectively shown in AKC and UKC shows, finishing her UKC championship in just a few shows. We are not able to show often, but look forward to getting her in the ring when we can.
She loves to give hugs and kisses, wrapping her front legs firmly around your neck. She seems to study how to be cute, and is very talented at being adorable as well.
Juliet whelped a healthy litter of eleven puppies on October 25, 2008 - five boys and six girls. She was bred to Ch Bohem Just in Time ("Justin") of Redcliffe Whippets. Of that litter, Katie stayed with Sharyn and Walt at Timbreblue and Viola came to live with us in South Carolina.
We skipped Juliet's next season and then bred her to Appraxin Amulet Avant-Garde. a beautiful steel-blue boy Sharyn had just acquired from Cal Perry of Appraxin Whippets. Those puppies -- another litter of 11! -- were born September 4th, 2009, the Gemstone litter.
Juliet's third litter is due towards the end of May 2010. We were hesitant about breeding her again so soon after her previous litter, but after discussing it both with our vet and a couple of specialists in reproduction, we decided that the time was right. She is in excellent health, and the latest research indicates that it is better to breed females on consecutive seasons, not, as we have always been taught, to skip seasons! (Just when you think you know it all...) If anyone is interested in reading more about that, go to Dr. Robert Van Hutchinson'son-line reproductive seminar. This will be a repeat of our Gemstone litter, sired by Appraxin Amulet Avant-Garde, Blue.
